Milk is Overrated

Well, we had an interesting week! We knew something had to be wrong when Jordyn inconsolably wailed for hours and hours one night last week. Her face broke out into a rash and she just could not seem to get comfortable. We took her to the pediatrician the next morning and found out that she has a milk protein allergy.

This means that either I have to change my diet to be milk free, or we have to start a milk free soy formula. I've decided to alter my diet. I now cannot have: milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream, chocolate, (yes, I cried over the last 2), pizza, creamer ... oh heck, you name it and I'm sure it has milk in it. I CAN have meat, fruit, and vegetables. Milk is overrated.

Jordyn and I also drove to Michigan for a day. If any parent-to-be or new parent were to ask me for any bit of advice, my advice would be this: Do NOT attempt to travel with a newborn alone if you are going further than 1/2 hour away!!!!! My normal 2 1/2 hour trip turned into a 4 1/2 hour trip. Little Miss J. refused to let mom drive home. New moms: Do NOT attempt this feat! You WILL lose!

We did have a great time in Michigan though! My family hadn't seen her since she was born. Grandma held her the majority of the time we were there, and she also liked to stare at grandpa. It was great to play with all of the nieces. Jordyn got a picture with 2 of her beautiful cousins. Next time we'll have to get one of all 4 girls!

4 weeks old!

Hello! Lou and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary today! Yes, that's right, celebrating by hanging out with the little one! haha

Actually, Jordyn has had a busy week. She took her first "ride" on a snowmobile (ok, so she was sleeping on it and it was just sitting in the garage), then we went and bought a swing.

She LOVES the swing, especially when we play the music super loud.

Speaking of music, Jordyn has shown great interest in Pink Floyd and Green Day! We were watching a Green Day concert on TV and she seemed to watch very intently. She even cried when it went to a commercial.

She also went to Monarch School. Jordyn got to meet all of my students and their wonderful parents who have all been so generous and supportive of us all year. My students had a music concert on Tuesday and it was really great to be able to see them again before the summer. Little J-PO was quite the celebrity in the hallways with the Monarch staff!

Today we took Jordyn with us to the Cleveland Museum of Art. Lou had never been there and I haven't been there in years. Jordyn and I got our picture taken in front of Water Lilies by Monet. We stayed for 2 hours and she was really great!

We are hoping to make it to Michigan sometime soon to see family nearby that haven't met her yet, and we hope grandma and grandpa can make it out here to Cleveland to see us soon too!

My family and friends

Hello everyone! I am almost 4 weeks old now! I just wanted to put up pictures of some of the family and friends I've met so far! I promise to get some newer pictures up soon.
